Switched my bread recipe to 100% whole wheat flour (usually half white, half whole wheat.) It’s delicious … but doesn’t rise quite as high, so less slices per loaf, which means a few more calories/slice. It’s worth it though! And I can slice it a little bit thinner, which will help a bit. Going to keep using this recipe, I think. 🙂

I also cut the yellow sugar by 25%. Don’t miss it either. I would cut it entirely but the yeast needs *some* to be able to work.

To get more rise from your whole wheat bread, increase your yeast ratio. 😊

You can also drop the sugar totally, there is enough natural sugars in the flour for the yeast. You will find your bread will go stale faster without the sugars.
