I wrote this earlier to my buddy on here, but I think I need to put it out there for all folks to read. I am totally disgusted with people who are "disappointed" in "only losing" X pounds in a few weeks. Really? This ISN'T a DIET. IT'S A LIFE CHANGE!

These same people say, "I only cheated once." "I'm planning a cheat." "Is it okay if I have a free day, where I can eat whatever I want?" Shoot, you're an adult. Think about it. Who are you cheating on? What will be the outcome of that "cheat"? What will the future lead to?

I'm Type 2 Diabetic, on Lexapro. Those things combined make it VERY difficult to lose weight in the beginning. Am I frustrated? Yes, and no. I understand what's happening to my body, but only because I researched it. I know that this is the rest of my life. If I don't do this, my life will be much shorter. Not my first choice.

I understand that it isn't going to be Induction forever. I understand that it won't be OWL forever. I give myself permission to eat anything I want, just not today. I can do anything I want, just not today. As long as I have permission, and nothing is forbidden, then I have no reason to cheat, there is no cheat. I'd only be cheating myself, my husband, and my children. Why would I want to do that? Why would YOU want to do that?

Wake up, moany groany's - this is YOUR life - what's your decision?

Well said! I tell myself close to the same thing, just about every day. I can eat as much as I want as long as it is on the list!

I was just talking to my friend about this earlier. I was sick of hearing those people who only have 15 lbs to lose complain that they didn't lose 10 lbs their first week. Or that they don't understand why they gained when they drink on the weekends. You're so right. You only cheat yourself when you "cheat."

Although the word "disgusted" is a little strong for me, I totally agree with your logic. I feel like a scientist from so much research and educating I've done in the last 4 months, but I am so thankful for the knowledge! I am loving my body and taking great care of it! What a great example for my children and grandchildren!

I agree with this to a point but i also sympathize with those who complain to everyone deals with their weight issues differently and while we may think oh 15lbs is no big deal to them it is and their perception is much different as most peoples are. Some peopel do try very hard and not see progress and thats discouraging they should be able to vent their discouragement they dont mean to offend anyone or annoy any of us. Some people are naturally negative and some positive we're not all as strong or weak as eachother. Try to sympathize before you get angry with people you see them much differently than they see themselves. My fiance is 150lbs and he gets very defensive about his weight and looks because he was heavy in middle school I can teven imagine him as a fat kid but if i make a joke about his eating he gets very upset i see a skinny lean man he stills sees the pudgy kid from middle school...You never know someones situation so try not to be "disgusted" or judgemental.

I get upset with the hipe that tell you LOSE 15 POUND IN 2 WEEKS!!!!!Then when people don't they complain.They don"t read the book & try to DIET.This is not a DIET people.Its a totally new lifestyle.

I understand what MrsMontana is getting at, but then I am married to her. :) FWIW, it is in reference to a TON of postings on another site that she was visiting. I took one look at the site a while ago and moved on. Basically dang near most threads were people asking for permission to cheat, or that they are on a diet, not following it, and not losing weight and want to know why.. @gg-girl Off-grid means that we produce our own power, and are not connected to the electrical/phone lines. We have solar panels, batteries, and use that to make the power we need. -Bidah

Yes we have to think about how Atkins is benefiting our bodies. I caught myself telling my husband earlier that he was hungry because he had cereal for breakfast and explaining to him why he was hungry lol Told him if he had bacon and eggs he would be fine :-) I have to say though, after 10 weeks on induction I'm starting to get a little bored. Trying to find some new low carb recipes :-) Haven't been able to weigh for the last 33 days because of knee surgery, but in 2 weeks I will be able to weigh and I'm curious to see how its going. Almost lost my skirt today, so I guess thats a good sign lol

Good post. I also get tired when people tell me how much the scale says, but have no idea how many inches they've lost, or worse, complain that they're losing inches and have gone down X clothing sizes, but the scales isn't moving. /sigh

I agree with Mrs Montana, the atkins diet is not a cheating diet, we are always one Hoho away from being kicked out of Ketosis and a two week set back, it's not worth it. We all get a little bored and miss food that crunches but that's the trade we make for not having the cravings milbwknicole is refering to. It is a lifestyle change, but I'm happy to be rid of those cravings which were bad for those first three days for sure. Bidah, your a smart man for agreeing with your wife, especially when it comes to the topic of getting permission to cheat.

I agree totally with you. I just started this diet 9 days ago, but had done it 5yrs ago and had lost around 35lbs. I gained back 10., but want to get to the goal weight I have set out for for years. This is the best that I ever feel is when I am doing this diet. As well as being my healthiest. It is a life change, just as you said.
