GREEN TEA GREEN TEA GREEN TEA!! Bigelow Green Tea (Delicate Flavor Healthy Antioxidants) works great! It's kind of mild, I generally drink the Green Tea dieters tea, but it's pretty strong. Hope this helps!

Milb, you are too cute! Love the delicate way you've put it :) I certainly do have the same, shall we say, difficulties, and have been looking for a solution as well. Some say water, water, water and then more water. And top that with some more water! I like Finnsldy's Green Tea suggestion as well. I think I'll have to get some - though from what I remember the last time I tried it, it is NOT a fave! Good luck!

Are you allowed to have flax seed on Atkins? You can add it whole to almost anything, and add it ground to almost everything else. Research before you try. I don't want to throw you out of ketosis. flax seed works for me, I do high protein/low carb and I can now go once a day.

OH YES....you can have flaxseed...that's what the MIM is made with!
|
I love the way you put it! My husband uses herbal teas you can get at the grocery store- they are usually pretty gental. There are harsher stimulants at the drug store. Me? I don't have "that" problem, I have the opposite problem... and I guess I need something else entirely different for that! :)

I am not on Atkins but I used to suffer horribly from it. I started drinking green tea with citrus (I use lemon, lime and orange juice but being as you are induction you may not be able to use it) I have not had any trouble at all, in fact I am more regular now that I have been my entire life.

Yes really annoying I have never had a problem before. I will try the flax seed.....how do I find the recipe for MIM? want to try that.....Psyllium is that ok on atkins?
|
Now that's interesting, I've been having the opposite problem...I thought it was because I'm eating so much fat!! I don't know which one I prefer!
Looks like the Psyllium might work...and maybe try a Magnesium supplement (250-300mg) before bed.

Miralax is a great thing to try! Totally tasteless, you mix it into any beverage once a day for up to 7 days. Usually you will go by day 2...

Chia seeds!! You can find them in your health food store. They are wonderful and with a Tablesppon or 2 a day sprinkled on food I now go regularly every morning easily! Through talking with the health food store people this is what I found out: flax seed and chia seed are both high in fiber, but flax seed cannot be digested as whole seeds because they are too hard shelled, so therefore if swallowed whole they won't be of use and just be pooped out whole. If you ground flax seed that can be digested but as soon as you ground flax seeds it starts loosing it's nutritional values each day...Chia seeds on the other hand do not need to be crushed because the chia seed is disolves in liquid and (and stomach liquids) in about 10 minutes! Turning itself into a sticky substance that will bind to everything in the intestine and drag it out of you in one big...well you know. I have not needed anything else to help me go since I started chia seeds.
About your question of what's aloud. chia and flax have equal carb to fiber so the net carb is 0. With Psyllium be careful. Read the container to make sure there is no hidden sugar added to it. Good luck!
