So I'm checking out a gym. It looks nice, but I want to see in practice if it's actually a good investment based on usage. (It's easy enough to get carried away by the sales pitch and a 'New Year's resolution type attitude*, but in the daily grind is it something that I can use regularly; that I can make worthwhile?)
In any case, I had wanted to check out a class there, but I didn't get there in time. I decided to use the time to cycle instead. I cycled 7.22 miles in 25min. I determined my velocity was somewhere between 17.2 and 18.05mph (depending on how you round the dividend; v=d/t for 25min means t comes to 5/12 or 4.16repeating). What is interesting to me is that the display on the exercise bike said that in the time I cycled I burned 165 calories. Entering it as exercise on FS (25 min for very fast-17.5mph- bicycling) tells me that I burned 300+ calories.
