Johanne的日记, 2011年01月7日

I'm still on my high from yesterday. My blood work was so amazing. For the parts that weren't:

Vitamin D: 2000 IU D3

To lower Triglycerides: fish oil, tumeric, cinnamon, green tea, no processed foods (already doing), no HFCS, etc. (already doing)

To raise HDL: fish oil, aerobic exercise, red wine (hehehe), cranberry juice (already drink), calcium, niacin (already take Niaspan), statin (already take Simvastatin)

The fact that my CBC hemoglobin was 14.2 was the most amazing. It means that even at 66, your body can heal itself. I have been dangerously anemic my whole life and, by changing to a gluten free diet, my small intestine is healing. I'm not constantly hungry because I'm finally absorbing the nutrients I need, including iron.

I'm off to an event in Omaha for the week-end. I'm leaving this afternoon. Everyone have a great one!

Awesome! That means there is hope for me as I am severely anemic as well (so much so that my Dr was sure I had lukemia at first). Have a great weekend!

Pixi, I have been hospitalized so many times; multiple transfusions; bone marrow biopsy; many other grizzly tests. My hemoglobin has been as low as 4.6. They just kept saying, "You MUST be bleeding from SOMEWHERE!," even though they could never find it. They said it would go away when I went through menopause. That was 10 1/2 years ago. I ended up diagnosing myself. I went to them and made them do the tests. I'm a celiac. I've been eating mostly gluten free since March, and here I am. My body is healing itself, even at 66. Keep on your Dr.s for a correct diagnosis. It may not be gluten, but there IS a reason. Make them find it.

Thanks Amy. I spent a couple of days on cloud nine, and I'm still ecstatic about it. No wonder I feel so energetic. I have red blood cells for the first time in my life. LOL!!!

Stef, I had so much fun. I was even able to carry my own stuff into and out of buildings. Yay!!! We had Mongolian grill Sat. night. I'd never had it before. I had the Thai pad rice noodles and gluten free sauces. It was DELICIOUS and oh so healthy. We came home in about 1/2" of snow, including Kansas City, but once we got East of Blue Springs, there was nothing yet. They're calling for 5" - 8" tomorrow, which is a lot for this area. An it's COLD!!! :-) I'll take your advice. I'm sure my kitties will be happy to keep me company.

Congrats on those excellent results! I am amazed that they did not consider celiac's on their own. Did they thank you for doing their job....? LOL (( ))

Babs, so am I. I grew up with 95% of the symptoms and they continued into my adult life. Even when I asked for the tests and had the celiac's check list with me with most of the symptoms checked off, they looked at me like . . . "Oh, here comes another groupie." But at least they did do the tests. I feel like I should get back all of my money paid out for bad diagnoses for the last 66 years. :-) (Actually I would like a life do-over!)
