For people who eat Spam (I am not a fan.) Though Spam is convenient, easy to use and has a long shelf-life, it's also very high in fat, calories and sodium and low in important nutrients, such as protein, vitamins and minerals. Additionally, it's highly processed and contains preservatives like sodium nitrite that may cause several adverse health effects.

Melissa, I have eaten spam...many years ago. I remember it tasted good to me at the time. Of course, we all know just cause it tastes good doesn't mean it's good for you 😊

I don’t remember ever eating spam. Though I may have as a kid and didn’t know it. I tend to agree with the processed food and preservative scare but it may be a good thing to throw in a hurricane box

Spam reminds me of my friend's dad in HS. He was 600 pounds or more- barely able to walk. He came in the house and got his can of spam and a loaf of bread and sliced it to have 4-5 sandwiches with mayo and grabbed an entire bag of potato chips and a 2 liter of Dr Pepper (which was always the go to when I lived in TX) and he went to his chair. He should be in his 60's, but died long ago. That being said- I think anything can be eaten in moderation and am currently having 2 pop-tarts before I go do legs- but spam I wouldn't do. Not my taste- or could be- who knows- I won't try it.

I love Spam. My grandma used to make, eggs and Spam, Spam and potatoes, Spam spread para sanwich (that's how she spelled it, I still have her recipe written in her handwriting and it's in Spanish). I don't make spam all the time, but when I do, it reminds me of her.

it's a pretty traditional ingredient in American Koreatowns and is a pretty big cultural thing stemming from American G.I.'s during the Korean War.
It's not unusual to find it in kimchi fried rice or "Army Base Stew".
A lot like Native Fry Bread it's a colonizer food that indigenous people have turned into their own thing.

A lot of foods are unhealthy if that's all you eat. You can have a few items that are not the best nutritionally and still have a good overall diet.
