I went looking for your "Rant" and figure this must be it! :P
I don't think there is any doubt that eating food that is as whole and unprocessed as possible is of GREAT benefit.
Every now and then you hear about some indigenous tribe somewhere (like the Hunza or the Tsimane) with insanely good health, incredible longevity or seeming immunity from cancer and heart disease. They certainly don't eat any heavily processed foods. They eat what the land provides.
Also our food has become more and more processed over the years, and our health has steadily declined. Of course the processed food isn't the only thing that has changed, AND our longevity is better than ever so you can't necessarily decide to blame processed food. Either way, I try to keep it as simple as possible, and think that's a good way to go. I stopped having protein powders and things like that (not saying they are bad) as if I don't clearly understand how it's made, I tend to avoid as I figure the more complicated it is to make, the more complicated it will be for my body to break it down.
