yay for my first journal entry. i am getting back on track for a healthy eating plan and i really want to lose some serious lbs. i get pretty down on myself for gaining weight so fast but i know it doesn't have to be this way forever and each day i can make smarter choices. i don't really want to think i am on a "diet" exactly because i know that won't last forever... i'd prefer to think i am just being healthier. i still get a little sick to my stomach when i think about all 230 pounds of myself. ugh... i don't feel that big but sometimes i catch a look in the mirror and think - jesus ! where did all of that come from?!?! i'm so stocky and thick through the middle now! but i know beating myself up over it won't help me reach my goals. i intend to begin to keep a food diary and log everything. if i eat something unhealthy i am still going to record it so that the next time i really know if it's worth the calories. nothing will be 100% off limits but special indulgences will need to be less frequent and for truly special events or holidays (not just any old wednesday afternoon!). after looking at my first few days of the food diary i was pretty shocked - what will be hard for me is keeping the fat and carbs in check and to really watch and be aware of my snacking. i also want to really focus on drinking lots of water and reducing my diet coke intake (my favorite guilty pleasure beverage). i hope logging all food and journaling will help me succeed in becoming a slimmer, healthier me!
