I got weighed today at WW and I am down 1 lb. for the week. They tell me that losing 1-2 lbs. a week is the healthy way to do it. The topic at the meeting today was how to help out a friend that is trying to lose weight, but they are discouraged. My suggestion was to tell the friend to think about where they want to be a year from now in their weight loss journey. So many times I have started a "diet" and ended up going off and as the time passes by I think to myself, "If I would have just stuck with it and seen it through, I would be so far now". This time I am going to keep motivated no matter how long it takes to get to my goal.
Other ides given to tell a discouraged friend were: *Brush your teeth if you get the urge to blow the diet. Certain foods do not taste as good right after brushing your teeth.
*Tell your friend to stick with it and not give up.
*Suggest that your friend drink a glass of water when they have the urge to splurge. Wait 20 minutes and see if it took the hunger away.
*Suggest other things. Go for a walk, call a friend, read a book.
Another good one would be to sign on to FatSecret and talk to some buddies.
