Hey guys - This is the last week of the "Every Day is a New Start" challenge and my thankfulness for today is this challenge. Am going to do my best to have an awesome final weigh in for this one. I'll invite you all to join me since it seems I am not the only one on here who needs this positive reinforcement!

Now I'm attempting to force a 180 in my attitude by replacing this challenge with "Go Hard or Go Home". Think it may help having this little push just before the Holidays.

So that is my plan. How are the rest of you going to cope with the Holidays? They are coming up fast!

I am going to do a race on thanksgiving 8K "Turkey Trot" I suppose that's how I'm dealing with THAT 3,000 calorie day!

I am sorry to see the "Every Day is a New Start" end. Will do my best to stay strong for the finale. This challenge meant something to me. I have a long road of weight loss ahead of me and it's daunting sometime as it's been hard to lose. For those that have a few pounds left in their journey, I think the "Go Hard or Go Home" challenge will help them dig in deep and get to that finish line. Good luck, Buffy! Hugs!

Mom - it was the same for me - even though I didn't always put my thoughts into words it made me reflect on how much I have to live for. BTW - I like your words on patience in your journal today.

YAY for Go Hard or Go Home!! Hoping it takes me over the goal line -- was tempted to type *finish line* but I guess we really never are finished are we? I too am doing a Turkey Trot but it is the Saturday before Thanksgiving and only a 3K. As far as the feast is concerned, this will be my 3rd Thanksgiving since going low-carb in 2010. My plan differs from the first 2 -- I only plan to cook LOW-CARB -- of course it will be LOTS and I will have to practice lots of portion control but no bread, no stuffing, no potatoes, no candied anything and no pies -- if my kids want these things they can bring them and then haul off the leftovers too -- oh, I haven't broke this to the kids yet, lol. Menu so far -- Turkey, pan gravy (drippings mixed with cream and a little poultry seasoning), Twice-Baked Cauliflower, Green Beans w/bacon & almonds, salad, sugar-free cranberry jello and sf pumpkin cheesecake.

Gigi - How true - goal weight is only the start of the journey! You have a great Thanksgiving plan going. Fortunately you have your son on board with you and I'm sure he will appreciate the feast!

Turkey Trotting for me too, 5 miles on Thanksgiving morning,...along with eating carefully cause I am not cooking the dinner, so probably just meat & sf pumpkin cheesecake, (me) & cheesy cauliflower, (me), broccoli salad,(ah, yeah that's me too) & no bread, no taters, no pies. Worked last year, it will work again this year. Go home & take a nap!

Buffy- I appreciate the invite and am grateful for all the help I can get to keep moving in the right direction. The family and I are going on a "big trip" to Germany to spend Christmas with my DH's family so I know I will be way off target while I am there. The best I can do is maintain while I am away, we'll see how it goes. BTW-very jealous of your warm temps- we are currently 7C(44F)--Brrrrr!

I am chuffed to say that I lost nearly 11 pounds on that challenge...better check when the final weigh in is so I don't miss it :)

GG - seems everybody is Turkey Trotting this year - makes me jealous that I can't "trot". Your feast sounds so yummy. Nice to be able to stay on plan and enjoy your holiday too!

Newmooney - I know you already survived your Thanksgiving! Well, I'm jealous you are going to Germany! Guess you have to go off plan a little but I'm sure you'll come out OK by January 1st.

Hiya Buffy..liked this journal..as we all have plenty to be thankful for..I have big plans for the up coming holiday...while everyone is stuffing their face I will pretend to do the same only I will only eat the foods that are on my plan now..I really want to lose at least 8 pounds by Christmas...that is my gift to ME..Have a great day...:O)

Bren - Funny thing, I'm giving myself the same gift for Christmas! Lets meet and go shopping for our new, smaller sized clothes, at the After Christmas sales.

GigiP and I must be in some kind of cosmic alignment, as my plans are almost identical to hers! I tried a pumpkin cheesecake for the first time last year and it was SO ymmmy, there's no way I'm letting the holiday go by without another one!

Sandy - I believe GG is doing the pumpkin cheese cake this Thanksgiving as well. Maybe I should make one ahead of time for practice - LOL.

I have settled on the cheesecake recipe I am going to make -- the one last year was good but I like the addition of maple in this one AND I love the mini, individual-ness of it -- going for PORTION CONTROL, lol -- Buffy, that is *working the plan* for me. Hmmm, that reminds me; I have to start stretching my stomach out to accommodate the Thanksgiving meal. LOL! Nah, I really don't have to begin training so early; the meal always has a way of doing that whether I'm ready for it or not. I do have to start working on some new excuses that I can use in January, for my holiday indulgences. Let's see, "The turkey would have been so bland without the yams, the stuffing and the pumpkin pie." I've still got time to come up with some better ones. As for you, young lady, you just keep that 180 in mind. :)
