For 3 years doing the Atkins diet, I fought with my digestive system constantly causing bloating and pain. After I got down to 126 and fell of the diet wagon and back up to 160 I went after loads of stress.
This past January, I started doing a Keto diet, not following it exactly, but close enough to see results.
While on Atkins, I used to buy their snack bars... While off it, I didn't eat any of them and my digestive system issues cleared up. I bought those simply because I hate eggs and they would be a substitute breakfast...wrong!
I started a new job this week and bought some Atkins snack bars to keep at my new office in case I got the munchies... Well, 1 bar yesterday and this morning I am completely bloated and in pain again! All day today I've been in pain feeling like I wanted to get a giant pin and just Pop my bloated gut out!
So I figured I will never buy those again no matter how low the carbs are.
I stay away from bread, potatoes, pasta and most fruits. I found doing Keto is forgiving when cheating, and easier to follow.
I'm wondering if anyone else doing Atkins snack bars are having the constipation and bloating issues after eating their products too?

So I use the Atkins bars in the same manner as you. In addition to reduced sugar power bars and shakes. I still eat “normal” foods for lunch and dinner trying to keep carbs down and within 2000ish calories. The sugar alcohols and fiber make the gas and reaultant bloating. I get what you are saying but I find it manageable if I just eat a few a day. When I have 5 or 6 then it’s crazy bloating!! Hang in there and your body will tell you what works. :-)

I stick to real foods. prepared foods always has things in them that cause issues. and yes it is the sugar alcohols that effect some people badly.
